4th Amendment Wear, a line of underclothes printed with a propietary metallic ink that displays any designed image or message on a TSA scanner screen, has won a gold cube at the 2011 Art Directors Club global awards. The range began with socks printed with the 4th Amendment to the United States of America constitution, which guards against unreasonable searches and seizures, along with requiring any warrant to be judicially sanctioned and supported by probable cause. Designers Matt Ryan and Tim Geoghegan looked for a way to make a statement while removing shoes at airport security checks. With the introduction of intrusive TSA X-ray body scanners, the design range moved on to underclothes reminding officials that they were spying on the privates of private citizens.
The 4th Amendment Underwear range was designed by creative director/designer/art director/illustrator/photo editor Matthew Ryan, with creative director/copywriter Tim Geoghegan.
